Nike Premiers a New Colorway of its Mashup Sneaker the Forceposite

Nike has tried many mash-ups of its classic sneakers in the past that just left people confused as to why Nike would come out with a product that no one was asking for. From the any of the fusion Jordans to taking the Air Max 95 and combining it with the Roger Federer Air Zoom Vapor, many of these mashups simply just leave sneaker-heads saying why Nike? This time around Nike is unveiling a new colorway of the loved and hated Nike mash up the Forceposite. This mashup of the classic Air Force One and Penny Hardaway’s Foamposite is coming out in a colorway that might change the way people look at the Forceposite. By taking one of the classic Foamposite colorways, ‘Metallic Red’ this Nike is reaching out to the true Foamposite heads and giving them something to move into a different silhouette. Nike has dropped multiple Forceposites in the past and many of the colorways and silhouettes have flopped, but these might be the Forceposite that gives the mash-up sneaker a better reputation and separates itself from the pack.

The Nike Air Force One is in the middle of a little bit of a resurgence for Nike at the moment. Over about the last year, you can see Nike Air Force Ones on the feet of celebrities and influencers all over the world for a few reasons. After rolling out 3 different iterations of the shoe with Virgil Abloh’s Off-White Nike came through and gave the people what they wanted with more Air Force One collaborations. From a collaboration paying homage to a very sought after Roc-A-Fella records, a collab with Just Don’s very creator and head designer Don C, and lastly probably the most hyped of all the full canvas upper Air Force One that featured detachable swooshes and lace covers that they worked with rapper Travis Scott on. Nike and its signature Air Force One was approaching the pinnacle of what made the sneaker so popular in the first place. The Air Force One is so great for its simplicity, its classic silhouette that can go with anything, and that it appeals to so many different lifestyles and cultures.

Nike’s Foamposite, unlike the Air Force One, is in somewhat of a downward spiral at the moment. Although the shoe will always be a cult classic Nike model and it has developed a following of its own, the masses aren’t asking for the heavy, clunky Penny Hardaway model these days. After a resurgence in 2012 due to the highly anticipated release of the Nike Foamposite Galaxy that had people not only paying prices in the thousands for the shoe but people even trading their cars for the shoe. Nike was riding high with the Foamposite at that time dropping a plethora of colorways from some of the originals like the metallic reds, pine greens, and the royals to new really out there colorways like the weatherman and the thermals. One problem Nike was over saturating the market with Foamposites and they began to sit on shelves in sneaker stores all over the country and eventually find their way to the Nike outlets going for way below retail.

Nike is hoping with this most recent mash-up of two of its classic models to be able to pull in the fanatics in each crowd. Mashing up the Air Force One and Foamposite in a colorway that will actually be able to demand attention from sneaker aficionados might actually make this shoe a sleeper of the summer and at a retail price of 180 dollars, it meets right in the middle of the price of two of Nike’s most popular models.

Adidas’ new boost shoes are a throwback with a twist

1996: inventor Frampton Ellis came to Adidas with a new way to create sneakers. Squared-off edges, he argued, were a driving force behind rolled ankles and should be replaced by wider, rounded soles that would produce more stability for athletes.

Adidas took his product and produced a new shoe called Feet You Wear. Adidas went on to use the bulky, rounded soles on everything from the Forty Low Trainer to the Salvation Running Shoe.  Kobe Bryant’s signature Adidas kicks, the Adidas KB8 III, used this tech.

This month, Adidas is bringing the soles back but with a more modern take on Boost technology to give them a more 2018 look.

NBA fashion persona star Nick Young has already been seen wearing a pair of what are now called “Crazy Boost You Wear” on the basketball court. He was wearing a pair of on court shoes rather than the streetwear ones. Both shoes are built to allow more natural movement for the wearer.

The shoe is cut into three parts, making each sole completely separated. The overall product is one of the most comfortable shoes you can wear.

The return of Feet You Wear on Kanye West’s Yeezy 500s and the new Boost You Wear is bringing back 90s nostalgia. This time, it might be around for good.

Arsenal soccer player Hector Bellerin criticized for appearing at London fashion week

Hector Bellerin, Arsenal soccer player and fashion admirer, was caught rocking a look that consisted mostly of Fear of God and a pair of white Balenciaga Triple S sneakers at the same time the soccer player’s team was losing to a smaller club in the FA Cup.

The 22-year-old right back star was hit with plenty of backlash from fans over the Spain international’s obsession with fashion. Just three pieces from his outfit cost $3,594.63 which is more than the average monthly wage in England. Bellerin attended the fashion show with his girlfriend, Shree Patel, who wore a similarly outstanding outfit.

The Arsenal defender frequently posts on his Instagram showing off his newest threads, and many supporters are starting to question his passion for soccer. His appearance at a fashion show didn’t help the fact that his team was officially knocked out of the FA Cup due to a 4-2 loss to Nottingham Forest.

Below are some supporters’ responses on Twitter:

“Professional model, used to be a footballer who had so much promise… quite sad.”

“Already prepping a fall-to career Hector?”

“@HectorBellerin would you please take a break from fashion and concentrate on football.”

“I don’t know if you’re seeing it but our team is in tatters. All the recognition and fame you have is because of football and right now you aren’t exactly justifying it.”

Dress Code 101: The New Rules to Know

The typical dress attire has changed in multiple aspects. These helpful tips will allow you to update your formal attire to be the best-dressed man! Numerous dress code rules that were established throughout previous decades are vanishing or loosening right in front of our own eyes. This allows each man to create easier and more appropriate outfits for dressier occasions. As street wear, sportswear, and gender fluidity continue to rise across numerous collections, it becomes known within the mainstream fashion.

One of the dress codes that have changed revolves around coordination and color appropriation. The old dress code consisted of different shades of grey, navy, and black. The new revamped style allows men to coordinate with layers of different colors and patterns. In this new generation of style code, a tie has become optional as well. A simple T-shirt and jeans can be just as appropriate for the office for certain occasions.

In the olden days, wedding suits were known to be a plain solid dark color. By bringing color into the man’s wedding attire, this allows character and sensibility. The combination of styles, silhouettes, and ascents are now a factor within the fashion of men at weddings.

Remember the good old nightclub days, when you had to wear black dress shoes? Well, those days are gone! Now, a simple white tennis shoe is appropriate for the nightclub or evening event scenery. This shoe allows a versatile array of options as it can coordinate with countless outfits.

Back in the day, crew necks were for the day to keep casual attire, as collared shirts were worn to evening events to resemble formal attire. In the 21st Century, a contemporary-casual is the norm that allows men to create multiple combinations, which can be worn during the day or night for any occasion. Basic necessities consist of tailored trousers, plain crew neck T-shirt, loopback sweatshirt, sneakers, and a casual bomber jacket.

Gender fluidity continues to influence multiple brands, which is a major step in the fashion industry this decade. Recent trends that have crossed over into men’s fashion have consisted of embroidery, looser trousers, sliders, and round sunglasses.

Jogger pants in the past were known to be worn only around the house, to do errands, or go to the gym. Now, they can revamp an entire outfit by adding street style to the pieces. Adidas and Louis Vuitton have partnered with Supreme to work on luxury sportswear items that can be worn during any casual occasion.

Hopefully these helpful new rules allow you to revamp your style into the 21st Century!

“Less Is More” – Athletic Apparel

Whether you heard it here first or on the news, it was bound to come out. The athletic apparel industry has thousands of companies around the globe that sell thousands of products. There is a new one out there though worth mentioning: Ten Thousand.

“Nothing more than everything you need” is the company’s motto. They only sell two “essential” products: Foundation Shirt and Foundation Shorts. The shirt comes in black, grey, or navy while the shorts only come in black.

The shirt is made from a “custom integration of merino wool and synthetic fibers.” It is meant to be as flexible as the wearer may need. It is moisture-wicking and the company claims that it blocks odors. I’m not sure about you, but I personally will be waiting for the reviews about that. I have a “desire” , need for the odor blocking shirt to say the least.

The foundation shorts are made of “next generation fabrics,” and there is even an option for a built-in liner, which offers more comfort and convenience. The best part about the shorts is that there are side pockets that are zippered! It is hard to come by a pair of athletic shorts that are fashionable, trendy, and possess pockets, let alone zippered ones.

This company is quite unique not only in the two products they developed but also in what they do and want their consumers to take part in. They have opened up their product development process to not just the investors, but to everyone. They plan to share every new sketch, concept and idea right on their website. Ten Thousand is simply asking that in return the consumer gives the company their honest feedback along the way. Their company has set a goal to “create the best performance apparel possible, tailored to real training needs.”

Will they be able to take on the big companies like Adidas group or Nike? Only time will tell. How long they will take consumer feedback is another question. Until then though, I will personally be giving my feedback and watching this company closely. They have the right ideas in their company mission statement. As a potential consumer, I hope that concept stays.

Olympic Torch Carried By Bruce Jenner Up For Auction

The torch carried by Bruce Jenner through Lake Tahoe, Nevada for the 1984 Summer Olympics is now for auction. This is the first memorabilia to be put up for auction since Bruce Jenner made the transition to Caitlyn Jenner.

The torch is 24 inches long and has a brass finish with a leather handle. It will be auctioned on July 30, 2015 by Heritage Auctions at their Platinum Night Sports Auction held in Chicago. The seller, Bob Lorsch, is a philanthropist and entrepreneur from Los Angeles, California. Lorsch was the one who made the arrangements for Jenner to participate in the Tahoe leg of the torch relay.

Chris Ivy, Heritage’s director of sports auctions, believes the torch symbolizes much more than just athleticism and hints that it is a symbol of inclusiveness for the LBGT community. He also adds on Jenner’s ability to have both strong masculinity and femininity.

“This torch serves as a wonderful symbol that masculinity and femininity are not mutually exclusive. The decathlon has long been considered the ultimate athletic proving ground. Jenner has played both gender roles masterfully.”

In addition, Lorsch’s idea of what the torch symbolizes is similar to Ivy’s.

“… Never realizing that we would be creating what is truly a piece of history that originated as a piece of sports history, then evolved as a piece of entertainment history through the Kardashian legacy and becoming a cultural phenomenon through the transition to Caitlyn.”

This is the first major piece of Jenner memorabilia to ever be put on the auction block. With that being said, the torch is expected to go for at least $20,000.

Men in Suits Doing Crazy Things

Who says you can’t skydive in a suit? How about surfing? These men are breaking conventional norms and indulging in their favorite activities without worrying about damaging their suit. And why the hell not! They’re only pieces of fabric elegantly sown together. You buy them to wear them and sometimes you want to feel elegant and dignified while jumping off airplanes, swimming with sharks or fighting lions in a pit. Disclaimer: If you have a die hard passion for suits, you might feel a bit squeamish about the abuse these suits get.

Do You Really Know Lebron James?

Lebron James is a FashionMR. You may know him for his astounding NBA career, some know him for his debacle this NBA season, others know him as the rookie who was compared to Michael Jordan his first year of play. But do you really know Lebron James?

Little known about Lebron James is that he was born to a 16 year old mother, who had to give James up to an adoptive family when he was only nine years old. His adopted father, a basketball coach, began to show James the ropes and teach the young James how to play ball. From that day, James was on the top of every single league, finishing high school with a nearly perfect record and having been named Ohio’s Mr. Basketball.

But his basketball career is just one aspect of his very successful endeavours. Little does everyone know, James is also the owner of the Miami boutique, UNKNWN. Which is ironic because this fact is basically unknown to the public and that the store stocks premium Nike shoes, but also stocks classic, and fashionable goods from 3.1 Phillip Lim, A.P.C, and Band of Outsiders. Keep in mind, James donates a good portion of the sales from his store to go into his foundation that he started, called the LeBron James Family Foundation.

James has also been the first black man to grace the cover of Vogue, all the while being the third man to actually appear on the cover. The cover was quite controversial considering the fact that it resembled King Kong advertisements. Controversy aside James has also gave a charitable amount to elect Barack Obama into office and has sat and joked around with Michelle Obama.

All in all, James is not only a renaissance man, he is a fashionMister. If you are looking for more information and history on one of the greatest players in the history of basketball, take a look at the documentary More Than a Game by Kristopher Belman.

Apple announces 7-for-1 Stock Split

Apple announced another stock split that will occur on June 2nd 2014, and begin trading at the lower split adjusted price on June 9th. This one is a little different than before. Not in any financial way, just that this time it will be a 7-for-1 split. This will not have any direct impact on the company’s financials, it will simply dilute the shares and ownership percentages while making it easier monetarily for the average investor to purchase a share of the stock. At the closing price of $594.09 as of 4/28/14 it would be a little more difficult for the average investor to purchase that one share of Apple Inc. However, after the stock split, one share would then only cost $84.87. The number of authorized Apple common shares will increase from 1.8 billion to 12.6 billion as a result of the split. The major difference is that one share gets one voting right, but now that same share would still get the same one voting right, just there would be seven times the shares out in the market, so your percentage of company ownership which each share of stock entitles you to have is minimized proportionally.

On the Apple Investor Relations page website when asked “Why have you decided to split Apple’s stock?” The reply was “We want Apple stock to be more accessible to a larger number of investors.” This will be Apple’s fourth stock split since going public. Apple’s common stock split on a 2-for-1 basis on May 15, 1987, on June 21, 2000 and also on February 18, 2005.

How this affects the investor. If you ever wanted to buy a share of Apple stock, but had the mindset that it was too expensive for you to afford, now that will change. You will be able to buy a share at 1/7th of the current price, so getting a share at under $100 will be very possible and likely as of June 9th 2014. You should consult with your financial adviser before jumping into any stock, but if you always wanted shares in Apple, but the price was always too high, this will be your chance to jump in.

Clippers Owner Donald Sterling Banned from NBA for Life!

Adam Silver, the new and recently named Commissioner of the NBA had a tough decision on one of his first days on the job. After a recording of Donald Sterling the owner of the NBA Los Angeles Clippers making extremely racist remarks like this one “”You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want. The little I ask you is not to promote it on that … and not to bring them to my games” to his girlfriend V. Stiviano recently surfaced on TMZ and backlash immediately ensued.

Everyone from media outlets to activists to the individual NBA players had a response to the audio tape and the remarks. Now that a decision has been made by Adam Silver and a monumental one it was. Donald Sterling received a lifetime ban from the NBA and was fined $2.5M dollars, the maximum amount allowed under the NBA’s constitution. Adam silver in his press conference stated that “Mr. Sterling may not attend any games or practices, hey may not be present at any Clippers facility, and he may not participate in any business or player personnel decisions involving the team. He will also be barred from attending NBA Board of Governors meetings or participating in any other league activity.” “I will urge the Board of Governors to exercise its authority to force a sale of the team”

Support for the decision of a lifetime ban for Donald Sterling was immediately supported by everyone around the NBA. The LA Clippers posted “WE ARE ONE” on their webpage, and Chris Paul who is the Clippers All-Star point guard and president of the players’ union stated “In response to today’s ruling by the NBA and Commissioner Adam Silver, my teammates and I are in agreement with his decision. We appreciate the strong leadership from Commissioner Silver and he has our full support.”

Other people involved in the NBA like Earvin Magic Johnson and the Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions, and it seems like everyone is in full support of the decision. So the question now is not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when Donald Sterling will be giving up ownership and selling the team.

NCAA March Madness – Upsets Galore – WATCH NOW!

Once again the NCAA Final Four tournament aka March Madness is upon us. Everyone is talking brackets. “Bracketology” is now a science and even our President, Barack Obama gets involved in the non-political atmosphere of the college basketball championship tournament with his own Final Four bracket named “Barack-etology.” This year the President picked the Michigan State Spartans to win it all. Joining in on the trend, Warren Buffet and Quicken Loans this year came up with a Billion Dollar Bracket Challenge with the prize being one billion dollars to the person who can fill out the perfect NCAA tournament bracket. Brackets are everywhere so no matter what you do, and where you are in America you probably either filled out a Final Four bracket and maybe even ten of them. Or are on the complete opposite end where you don’t want to hear the word bracket ever again. This is considered by many the greatest day in sports in the U.S. and is debated plentiful.

There are sixty four teams seeded within four sections and each section has seeds one through sixteen. Now history tells us that there will usually be at least one number twelve seeded team that defeats the number five seeded team in the first round. This year was no different, the number twelve seeded Harvard University went on to upset the number five seed Cincinnati by a score of sixty-one to fifty-seven. Another more closely battled upset came to Ohio State at the hands of Dayton by only one point in a sixty to fifty-nine battle that came down to the final seconds. However this was not the upset of the tournament so far. The biggest upset came when the number three seeded Duke University lost to a number fourteen seeded Mercer. Duke usually one of the perennial favorites every year for the fact that they have one of the best coaches in history to ever coach college basketball in Mike Krzyzewski, who also happened to coach the Men’s US Olympic basketball team most recently. They are also a very talented and reliable team with one of the top college players in Jabari Parker, a lock for the NBA whenever he decides to become a professional basketball player and enter the NBA Draft. Duke lost by the score of seventy-eight to seventy-one in what is considered the upset of the tournament thus far. Duke’s coach, Mike Krzyzewski went into the Mercer locker room after the game to congratulate the team and said “If we got beaten, at least we got beaten by a hell of a basketball team.” In life it’s important to always be a class act no matter the outcome of the situation, and this is why no matter what, every year Duke is always a favorite.
