Are Criquet Shirts for You?

founders

If you haven’t checked out Criquet Shirts, you’re missing out. Founders Billy Nachman and Hobson Brown started this brand after wearing collared shirts to an all-boys school growing up. This quickly became their signature style, yet after some time they had either lost their favorite polos or they had been worn out. After this sad occurrence, the duo decided that they wanted more control and began designing shirts by creating the combination of sustainable designs, being environmentally friendly, with the classic preppy look.

Men’s Facial Hair Styles

Facial hair is nothing new for men and is something they deal with every day. Over the years, the way that men wear their facial hair has changed. From completely burly beards, to more tidy mustaches and goatees, and then to completely clean shaven, men have been able to express their personal style by the hair that is on their face. Now men wear their facial hair in any way that they please, and there has been an increase of grooming products for men’s facial hair.

More recently, the term “lumbersexual” has been floating around. This word means that, for some men, that they look ultra masculine. These men have super burly beards and some of them are rocking the man bun. These guys look like they just walked out of the woods from cutting down trees all day, hence “lumbersexual.” They don’t really do anything for styling their hair, maybe tie it up, but that’s about it. The long beard is essential and has grown very popular.

Rag & Bone Spring 2016 Menswear

Crisp whites and muted neutrals made a stand at Rag & Bone’s Spring 2016 Menswear presentation. The models defied gravity in the parkour themed shots while tumbling and jumping throughout the city.

The designers, David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, decided that parkour was the theme to be for this year. The entire collection was inspired by the flying aerialists and put into reality by using flyweight materials, such as ultra fine nylon or perforated mesh. Many of the clothes were shown static, on stick-figure mannequins.

These types of materials were used for sporty styles like button-downs as well as a heavy-duty jersey within an overcoat. The details in the pieces included straps and flaps so that they would pick up a breeze and give off the sense of motion through air.

Again, using parkour as an influence, the trousers had a tapered silhouette. There were no baggy pants in sight, because as imagined, no one jumping through the air would want to trip over their pant leg. The collection truly is authentic to the parkour lifestyle; Neville and Wainwright did in fact road test their clothes on real parkourists.

While attendees did not get to see the parkour live in action, a video was featured at the presentation showing the best of the road test.

Amy Schumer’s Hilarious Guest Appearance

Amy Schumer has been making huge strides recently not only in the movie industry but in the comedy world as well.

She was recently honored at the 2015 Glamour Women of the Year Awards where she gave an unforgettable and hilarious acceptance speech. In her speech, she joked about her weight, beauty magazines in general, as well as the other women who were honored that night. Of course, in typical “Amy Schumer Humor,” the jokes were raunchy, and she ended her speech saying,

“I feel like I’ve burned all the bridges possible.”

Her latest project is the movie Trainwreck, which she is the lead actress in, and she also wrote the film.

To promote the film and the magazines, GQ and Glamour, in which she is on the cover, Amy was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. This episode is one for the books, making Jimmy and the audience laugh all the way through her appearance.

The funniest part of her appearance is when she is explaining how she ‘sexted’ Katie Couric’s husband:

The comedienne goes on to explain how she feels about actor Bradley Cooper:

Jimmy and Amy end with an emotional interview that you do not want to miss:

Amy had one of the funniest guest appearances on The Tonight Show. She has definitely proven that women are funny and can make it in an industry that is predominantly male.

If you haven’t seen the trailer for her new movie Trainwreck, you definitely need to check it out. Or, go watch the film which is in theaters July 17.

American Boy: Katama’s All-American Spring 2016 Collection Revealed

Oh say can you see… the Katama Men’s Spring 2016 Collection? While Independence Day was a few weeks back, the 17 looks of this all-American line will have you saying “God bless America.” Katama embraces a utilitarian-casual feel dating back with fits seemingly more appropriate for a number of decades prior.

Details like olive greens, old-fashioned high-hemmed shorts and tighter fitting polos parallel a new age Captain America. The refreshing addition of Chucks, Vans and loose tanks compliment the 40s-esque vibe of a majority of the collection’s pieces.

The models stand confidently ahead stars and stripes at what appears to be a trendy rooftop… most likely with a pool somewhere in close proximity. The line celebrates the male body with items that one might consider less than masculine. Tighter fits and shorter shorts may appear extremely dated to some, but I say, hey, if you’ve got a body, flaunt it!
Take a look at the Katama’s Americana-themed Spring 2016 collection below:

Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, Dies at 55

Emotions are high today as people mourn the death of Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, who died at the young age of 55 from a fatal tumor in his liver.

Gamers and fans everywhere showed their respect to Iwata via social media outlets by thanking him for childhood memories and for uniting families. Various internet sites even flew flags half-staff on Super Mario games.

Nobuyuki Hayashi, a consultant and technology expert, says of Iwata,

“He didn’t just create technology. He created a whole culture. It wasn’t just a consumer product that he had delivered. He brought to people something that’s eternal, what people remember from when they were kids. He was special.”

Iwata helped Nintendo to develop into a global company with the Wii home console and DS handheld. However, Nintendo has recently faced tough times due to competition with smartphone apps. Iwata planned to guide Nintendo through another stage of its global development by creating games for smartphones and tablets. Unfortunately, Iwata will not see this put into action.

Iwata was known and praised for being more approachable than other Japanese executives. He was a gamer himself and often interacted with other gamers through the internet.

As of right now, there has been no announcement of a successor for Iwata. However, it is known that Iwata will be greatly missed and will be remembered as a legend in the video game industry.

Olympic Torch Carried By Bruce Jenner Up For Auction

The torch carried by Bruce Jenner through Lake Tahoe, Nevada for the 1984 Summer Olympics is now for auction. This is the first memorabilia to be put up for auction since Bruce Jenner made the transition to Caitlyn Jenner.

The torch is 24 inches long and has a brass finish with a leather handle. It will be auctioned on July 30, 2015 by Heritage Auctions at their Platinum Night Sports Auction held in Chicago. The seller, Bob Lorsch, is a philanthropist and entrepreneur from Los Angeles, California. Lorsch was the one who made the arrangements for Jenner to participate in the Tahoe leg of the torch relay.

Chris Ivy, Heritage’s director of sports auctions, believes the torch symbolizes much more than just athleticism and hints that it is a symbol of inclusiveness for the LBGT community. He also adds on Jenner’s ability to have both strong masculinity and femininity.

“This torch serves as a wonderful symbol that masculinity and femininity are not mutually exclusive. The decathlon has long been considered the ultimate athletic proving ground. Jenner has played both gender roles masterfully.”

In addition, Lorsch’s idea of what the torch symbolizes is similar to Ivy’s.

“… Never realizing that we would be creating what is truly a piece of history that originated as a piece of sports history, then evolved as a piece of entertainment history through the Kardashian legacy and becoming a cultural phenomenon through the transition to Caitlyn.”

This is the first major piece of Jenner memorabilia to ever be put on the auction block. With that being said, the torch is expected to go for at least $20,000.

Maison Margiela’s Men’s RTW Spring 2016 For the Modern Man

Maison Margiela’s Men’s RTW Spring 2016 evokes royalty. With both ancient and futuristic essence, the spring line of menswear celebrates the classic yet fashion-forward man. The menswear seen in the collection is for the dapper, non-conformist man on the go. Pieces like light rust-colored trench coats, monotone glittered suits, leather buckled vests, and sheer muscle-tee like tops with graphic detailing stand out amongst the more conventional menswear collections.

The models rock studded boots and Birkenstock-like Roman sandals — a refreshing blend of seemingly timeless Western looks. The overall looks have a slight feminine feel, and each item of clothing could be transitional between genders. Rich coppers, onyxes, navies, beiges, and cornflower blues make their way throughout the collection — very atypical for a spring look, but it most definitely works.

The brand posted an image of their Spring 2016 models to Twitter:

NBC Fires Trump: Could this be the End for The Donald?

Donald Trump was fired by NBC on Monday following repeated instances of racist rhetoric concerning immigration policy. This announcement followed Univision’s lead when the lesser known broadcasting company cut ties with Trump last Thursday.

NBC’s move followed a petition on Change.org that collected more than 218,000 signatures imploring the company to cut ties. Additionally, the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda and 39 other Latino advocacy organizations asked NBC to terminate their contract with the real estate mogul.

Trump has repeatedly used racially charged rhetoric when addressing the topic of immigration throughout his presidential campaign. During his announcement, Trump asserted that Mexicans are, “bringing drugs, they’re brining crime, theyre rapists and some, I assume, are good people.” Along this line of thinking, his solution is to build a “really, really big wall” spanning the southern border that would be financed by the Mexican government.

To avoid a fiasco, NBC denounced Trump’s comments. “At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values.” In the interest of preserving the successful franchise Trump helped build, the broadcasting conglomerate is exploring ways to air “Celebrity Apprentice” without the show’s cash cow. However, the future of “The Apprentice” is unclear as the show is on hiatus.

In the announcement, it was also revealed that NBC will no longer air the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants as the two programs were cosponsored by the network and Trump.

Trump’s response to the news was fierce. In his opinion, “NBC is weak, and like everybody else is trying to be politically correct. That is why our country is in serious trouble.” Trump was also flummoxed by the decision in the wake of NBC’s announcement that it would retain Brian Williams, “They will stand behind lying Brian Williams, but won’t stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be,” he said.

Trump continued, “When I come out with a strong immigration stance, and I’m very strong on borders and I’m very strong on crime, that maybe I’ll lose NBC along the way.” After a campaign speech to civic leaders in Chicago, Trump said, “Whatever they want to do is ok with me.”

That’s simply not true though. Trump has already announced his intention to sue Univision for not airing either pageant. He also said that he is considering suing NBC.

To this point, Trump has believed himself to be infallible and untouchable. Trump has painted himself as the ultimate truth-teller, but he should probably listen to the truth first. The “truths” that he speaks are racist and factually incorrect. And unfortunately, a truth he will never learn is that not all publicity is good.

Most assumed his bid for 2016 was simply a publicity stunt designed to attract more attention with the byproducts of increased ratings and providing sustenance for his oversized ego. And while Trump may be second in New Hampshire polls at the moment, his odds of winning the Republican nomination are the lowest in American history.

Therefore Trump’s plan has clearly backfired. Instead of increasing ratings for his television shows, he lost them all together. Instead of furthering his views and agendas, he has made a mockery of them. And instead of becoming president, he has threatened the security of his brand. Could NBC’s announcement be the death of Donald Trump? Only time will tell.
