Rare Sneakers Take the Forefront at Milan Men’s Fashion Week

It’s no secret that when it comes to men’s fashion today footwear, especially sneakers, have a huge impact on the culture today. From designers like Virgil Abloh reimagining ten of Nike’s classic sneakers, which many of them eclipse the thousand dollar price range on the second-hand market, to him becoming the head artistic director to Louis Vuitton, the two worlds are merging. The world of rare sneakers and streetwear coming side by side to become just as coveted as high-end designer clothing just proves how much the culture is shifting. This change has been made clear in many recent fashion weeks by just observing what the crowd and models are wearing on their feet. This most recent Milan Men’s Fashion Week was no different for you could have seen a plethora of rare sought after sneakers on the feet of attendees and models.

This most recent Milan Men’s Fashion Week you were able to witness not just sought after sneakers from brands like Nike and Adidas but also from designer brands like Louis Vuitton and Dior. The fact that you are able to see designers like Raf Simons and Alexander Wang collaborating on sneakers with Adidas just shows that fashion is bridging the gap between the street and the high end. But also with high-end designer brands coming out with stylish almost sport-inspired sneakers like the Louis Vuitton Archlight, you can really observe the true influence of sneakers on fashion.

Sneakers in fashion today is something that doesn’t just bring together fans of streetwear and fans of high-end fashion but brings together two different generations of those who enjoy fashion. You see many important designers and artists today you have a strong connection to Jordan Brand and their classic retro sneakers. You can see the artistic director of Dior Kim Jones constantly in exclusive Jordans not just from his friend Virgil Abloh but rare collabs like the Jordan Fragment One. You may also see the inspiration that Jordan has had on other designers for their own sneakers. You can see this inspiration in many forms whether it is Yves Saint Laurent’s high-top court sneaker that takes many cues from the Jordan One shape and classic colorways to Fear of God’s Jerry Lorenzo taking many similar points of inspiration into his Basketball sneaker.

Whether many in the world of high fashion want to believe it or not the culture is shifting. It is shifting in a way that displays subcultures like sneakerheads taking a major lead when it comes to their inspiration on the world of fashion. Whether it be that these old school sneakerheads are the ones that are influencing high fashion today or that high fashion designers are just taking cues from this culture who has people lining up every week for a pair of shoes just based on their exclusivity. There is something satisfying to many if you have a pair of shoes that the person next to you on the street wasn’t able to acquire not because of the price tag but because you simply worked harder and you can see this at this most recent Milan Men’s Fashion Week and you will see it at many fashion weeks to come.

Kanye Allegedly Ripping Off Another Artist for Yeezy Supermoon Ads

Instagram account Diet Prada is an account that specializes in pointing out the not so coincidental copying that goes on in the world of fashion today. As we all know there is no problem with drawing inspiration from someone whether it be their design, runway setup, or just the overall theme of a collection. But there is a very clear difference between pulling inspiration from something or someone and blatantly stealing an idea and crediting it as your own. Diet Prada since their first post in 2014 calling out Raf Simons for using designs very similar to Prada, hence the name, has been diligent to point out those who do not give credit where it is due.

In Diet Prada’s most recent claim they are accusing Kanye West of taking the ideas of photographer Minissi and a series of photographs she took in 2015 that explored identity and the wanted of oneself to reconnect with their own body, a very deep subject. I believe what Diet Prada feels what Mr. West is most guilty of is the fact that he drew inspiration from this very deep emotional photo shoot and turned it into a not safe for work sneaker advertisement. Myself, similarly to Diet Prada see it as a little distasteful considering the subject matter of the original photographs.

This would not be the first time though that Diet Prada has made claims against not just Kanye West but the West family in general. In July of 2017 Diet Prada accused Kim Kardashian West of very blatantly using the designs of Comme Des Garcon designer Rei Kawakubo and Vetements designer Demna Gvasalia for children’s pieces for Kim’s brand The Kids Supply. Kim said that the pieces were being made as an homage to the designers and that the pieces would be named after them, clearing the air about the whole copycatting fiasco. But Diet Prada was not done there also accusing Kim of ripping off the makeup done on Beyonce for a Flaunt magazine cover for Kim’s makeup collection, which Kim did not address. The last claim Diet Prada made against the West’s though was when Kanye in May tweeted sketches that appeared to be taken directly from ex-Nike designer Tony Spackman just with his name for the sketches photoshopped off the top of the sketch. This was another accusation that Kanye would not address.

With these most recent accusations made by Diet Prada against Kanye West, many are left unsurprised by his actions. Many without real ears to the ground in this industry and this culture believe that Kanye West is a very original one of a kind thinker when it comes to his ideas. What many don’t know is that Kanye West just like all of us draws inspiration from the things he hears and sees around him in his day to day life. The only problem with what he’s doing right now is by not giving credit to this original photographer, if that is where he drew the inspiration from, he is disrespecting the whole entire series of photographs she did and the message behind them. The fact that he recreated them as a way for him to sell sneakers too just adds salt to the wound.

Nike Premiers a New Colorway of its Mashup Sneaker the Forceposite

Nike has tried many mash-ups of its classic sneakers in the past that just left people confused as to why Nike would come out with a product that no one was asking for. From the any of the fusion Jordans to taking the Air Max 95 and combining it with the Roger Federer Air Zoom Vapor, many of these mashups simply just leave sneaker-heads saying why Nike? This time around Nike is unveiling a new colorway of the loved and hated Nike mash up the Forceposite. This mashup of the classic Air Force One and Penny Hardaway’s Foamposite is coming out in a colorway that might change the way people look at the Forceposite. By taking one of the classic Foamposite colorways, ‘Metallic Red’ this Nike is reaching out to the true Foamposite heads and giving them something to move into a different silhouette. Nike has dropped multiple Forceposites in the past and many of the colorways and silhouettes have flopped, but these might be the Forceposite that gives the mash-up sneaker a better reputation and separates itself from the pack.

The Nike Air Force One is in the middle of a little bit of a resurgence for Nike at the moment. Over about the last year, you can see Nike Air Force Ones on the feet of celebrities and influencers all over the world for a few reasons. After rolling out 3 different iterations of the shoe with Virgil Abloh’s Off-White Nike came through and gave the people what they wanted with more Air Force One collaborations. From a collaboration paying homage to a very sought after Roc-A-Fella records, a collab with Just Don’s very creator and head designer Don C, and lastly probably the most hyped of all the full canvas upper Air Force One that featured detachable swooshes and lace covers that they worked with rapper Travis Scott on. Nike and its signature Air Force One was approaching the pinnacle of what made the sneaker so popular in the first place. The Air Force One is so great for its simplicity, its classic silhouette that can go with anything, and that it appeals to so many different lifestyles and cultures.

Nike’s Foamposite, unlike the Air Force One, is in somewhat of a downward spiral at the moment. Although the shoe will always be a cult classic Nike model and it has developed a following of its own, the masses aren’t asking for the heavy, clunky Penny Hardaway model these days. After a resurgence in 2012 due to the highly anticipated release of the Nike Foamposite Galaxy that had people not only paying prices in the thousands for the shoe but people even trading their cars for the shoe. Nike was riding high with the Foamposite at that time dropping a plethora of colorways from some of the originals like the metallic reds, pine greens, and the royals to new really out there colorways like the weatherman and the thermals. One problem Nike was over saturating the market with Foamposites and they began to sit on shelves in sneaker stores all over the country and eventually find their way to the Nike outlets going for way below retail.

Nike is hoping with this most recent mash-up of two of its classic models to be able to pull in the fanatics in each crowd. Mashing up the Air Force One and Foamposite in a colorway that will actually be able to demand attention from sneaker aficionados might actually make this shoe a sleeper of the summer and at a retail price of 180 dollars, it meets right in the middle of the price of two of Nike’s most popular models.

Reebok launches Always Classic campaign

Reebok has launched an ad campaign called Always Classic. The athletic line brought together a collective consisting of Lil Yachty, Gigi Hadid, Teyana Taylor, Ariana Grande and Rae Sremmurd. The star of the whole collection featured a re-installment of a new model of Freestyle Hi. The new collection is sure to catch some eyes, especially with a star-studded lineup of celebrities.

Adidas’ new boost shoes are a throwback with a twist

1996: inventor Frampton Ellis came to Adidas with a new way to create sneakers. Squared-off edges, he argued, were a driving force behind rolled ankles and should be replaced by wider, rounded soles that would produce more stability for athletes.

Adidas took his product and produced a new shoe called Feet You Wear. Adidas went on to use the bulky, rounded soles on everything from the Forty Low Trainer to the Salvation Running Shoe.  Kobe Bryant’s signature Adidas kicks, the Adidas KB8 III, used this tech.

This month, Adidas is bringing the soles back but with a more modern take on Boost technology to give them a more 2018 look.

NBA fashion persona star Nick Young has already been seen wearing a pair of what are now called “Crazy Boost You Wear” on the basketball court. He was wearing a pair of on court shoes rather than the streetwear ones. Both shoes are built to allow more natural movement for the wearer.

The shoe is cut into three parts, making each sole completely separated. The overall product is one of the most comfortable shoes you can wear.

The return of Feet You Wear on Kanye West’s Yeezy 500s and the new Boost You Wear is bringing back 90s nostalgia. This time, it might be around for good.

Best shoes from Milan Men’s Fashion Week

Way back when, men’s shoes were all plain and practically the same. Now, the menswear world has started to embrace the sportswear trend, allowing footwear to become more casual.

Luxury now lies in the fabrication, versatility, techonology and detailing applied to every shoe. Milan Men’s Fashion Week was filled with some of the best shoes to date.

Santoni showcased Santoni classics while also reinterpreting them with some more casual proportions.

Brunello Cucinelli debuted runners in premium leather and also showed off hiking boots with luxe shearling linings.

Jimmy Choo showed off the Lucas, which this time around had a metal toe plate on the undersole with the brand’s logo etched into it.

Giuseppe Zanotti brought out a two-way biker/combat boot with zip-off which was done in butter soft leather. Other styles include sneakers and slippers with removable socks with an addition of a rainbow high-top sneaker where each panel had hand-applied color.

On the runway, crafted sneakers and snow boots took over at Zegna Couture. The shoes had the label’s triple X symbol. Laboratory inspired boots at Marni were so shiny people didn’t recognize it was made out of premium leather. Fendi produced a premium sock-boot, while at Versace, the collaboration with 2 Chainz on sneakers hit it off well.

Giuseppe Zanotti’s Fall 2018 filled with unique sneakers

Giuseppe Zanotti’s Fall 2018 collection was presented on the first day of Milan Men’s Fashion Week, and the versatility of the shoe collection was spectacular. The collection wouldn’t have been a full Zanotti collection without including something out of the ordinary, and this season it was in the form of a rainbow sneaker.

“I love black, but these sneakers will be delivered in June,” the designer told FN. “There’s no more winter and summer, so it reflects that.”

Each part of the shoe was hand-decorated with a different color. “This final result is more emotional than when it’s done via an industrial process,” Zanotti noted. “It costs nearly 40 percent more, but it’s 300 percent more beautiful.”

The shoe is unlike the rest of the collection because it drew inspiration from streetwear, sport, biker, combat and rock ’n’ roll. “It’s a new interpretation of our black universe, using our codes along with memories from my own generation,” the designer said.

Other shoes included biker style mid-calf boots where the top part could be removed, turning the shoes into ankle boots. “There’s a zipper just like on a biker jacket, so you can transform them into a combat boot,” according to the designer.

Another shoe in the collection was a black velvet runner shoe where part of the sole was made out of metallic gold. “It’s a super-thin coating done by a special machine they use for cars; it’s a molecular spray with charged particles.”

There were also sneakers and loafers that came in a chunkier sock-style upper but with removable soles. “I took the idea of the sock from the world of sport and 1960s tennis players,” he explained. “You can take them off and wash them in the washing machine.”

Versace and 2 Chainz reveal sneaker collaboration at Milan Fashion Week

2 Chainz was front row at Versace’s fall 2018 men’s runway show on day one of Milan Fashion Week, but the fashionable rapper was there as more than just a guest. Earlier that day, 2 Chainz teased at a possible collaboration project on Instagram: he posted a video that showed off a pair of co-branded Versace sneakers featuring his Chain Reaction logo.

2 Chainz and Donatella Versace had even more to show off. At the show, they displayed even more collaborative sneakers, and most of them stopped the show. The chunky styles featured a lot of mismatch color schemes that were blended with bold prints and textures drawn from the ready-to-wear.  This new collaboration shows that the chunky shoe trend is likely to stay during the new year. According to WWD, the Versace x Chain Reaction sneakers are expected to be purchasable in two months.

New Balance gives most popular shoe a makeover

New Balance names all their shoes after a number, and that can make it very hard for some people discern one shoe from another. Everyone should know the 574 though, as it’s the most popular New Balance shoe and seen on a daily basis. It’s the shoe that has a vintage-inspire running style with a big “N” on the side. Ever since the 1990s, these shoes have constantly been on the shoe shelves in malls and stores. Recently, New Balance took the 574 and gave it some more modern traits to push it along in 2018.

Prada makes new Velcro sneaker

2017 was a year filled with big luxury brands creating the ugliest shoes that became a hot trend. Balenciaga with the sock sneakers and huge sole shoes took over for the most part with other brands not far behind. The longtime company Prada decided to kick start 2018 in similar fashion by releasing their new Cloudbust Sneakers in a very un-Prada-like way.

Prada’s new spring 2018 menswear collection is a mix of virtual reality and actual reality, and the Cloudbust silhouette fits both perfectly. The upper part of the shoe closely resembles what running shoes look like with a touch of luxury. The shoe has leather panels, a Prada logo and a multi-piece sole that gives the shoe an astronomical feel to it. Its two tone colorway (black and a dark red) also contributes.

Prada has been able to create staple pieces for a season, in the past, and the Velcro shoes might be the newest staple yet– the shoe has already been spotted on the feet of artist A$AP Rocky. This signals a significant indication that the shoes will cause a major wave in the fashion world. The shoes are available on Prada’s website for $695.

Reebok gives retro shoe a makeover

Reebok is a brand that relies heavily on their classic outwear such as the original Classics shoes, and this time around, Reebok has managed to push a new shoe into the mainstream fashion world once again. This shoe is none other than their iconic Reebok Workout.

The newly remodeled version of the Workout is made out of an ultraknit construction. The shoe, now named Workout Clean Ultraknit, also features an EVA midsole, rubber outsole for more traction and the label’s signature branding to the side. It is suitable to become your new workout shoe. The lighter construction of the shoe is better suited for circuits with additional ventilation, but the retro look fits nicely with any outfit.

Reebok was able to get Tokyo illustrator Rimo to create the artwork for the relaunched campaign. The shoes can be purchased at Reebok.co.uk and are currently going for around $150 USD.

Justin Timberlake’s favorite new shoes

Justin Timberlake has had a couple of style eras over the course of his career. When he was a part of ‘NSYNC, he was rocking the blond curly hair and all denim-everything trend. When he went solo, he took some of Pharrell’s skate sensibilities and took it into his own form by rocking beanies, graphic tees, baggy jeans, and sweatbands. Around 2006 though he was rocking a 3-piece YSL suits with sneakers. Then turned around and made a song about his admiration of Tom Ford suits.

But after the suit & tie era ended Justin Timberlake has been spotted sporting an everyman kind of casual look. But besides this Justin Timberlake has taken a liking into the Visvim FBT’s, a sneaker that has a rich sneakerhead history because of the price tag and the number of predominant names they have been seen on.

The shoe is a type of sneaker-moccasin hybrid that is considered to be Visvim’s signature product, the show debuted a year after Visvim’s launch in 2000. The sneakers were inspired by a pair of shoes worn on the cover of an album by the Fun Boy Trio and over the years has had many different models that come in suede, full grain leathers, and corduroy. Timberlake favorite pair so far has been the classic brown suede pair.

The FBT’s are nowhere near cheap, the shoes usually range from $600-$800 retail. The pair Timberlake rocks are currently going for around $600, the pair he wears are a little different from other versions of FBT’s because of a small red bead on one of the ties that connect the suede collar to the shoe’s proper upper. No one is exactly sure what brought Justin Timberlake to the coveted shoes but he could of have drawn inspiration from the likes of Eric Clapton, John Mayer, and Kanye West, who have been seen wearing the shoes.

Olly Murs auctioning off signed shoes

When it comes to charitable acts many famous celebrities, actors, and athletes have done their fair share. Adding to the list of those well-known doers of good deeds is Olly Murs.

Olly Murs is set to be auctioning off a pair of signed shoes and will be dedicating the proceeds to Small Steps Project charity. Artist Olly Murs donated a pair of Givenchy shoes he wore on his UK arena tour to the Small Steps Project charity that will be auctioned off. The singer also donated a pair of canvas trainers that he wore on the same tour that will be auctioned off on the organization’s website. Olly Murs has donated shoes in 2016 as well.

Olly Murs isn’t the only famous star to donate shoes to the Small Steps Project charity. Sia, Lorde, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Michael Caine had all donated shoes to the organization as well. Olly Murs hopes his shoes will sell for a lot.

“These are the designer stage shoes I wore for my arena tour earlier this year. I did a lot of dancing in them for two months and absolutely loved them! I hope that the money raised will go a small way towards a very worthwhile cause and charity. I have donated my shoes to the Small Steps project because it is such a fantastic charity – I really hope that they raise lots of money to really make a difference to children’s lives!”

the description of Olly Murs shoes listed on the Smallstepproject.org website says: “Olly kindly donated a pair of shoes last year, and this year he is collaborating again with a pair of black and red Givenchy, leather, elastic shoes in a UK size 8.5/9 that he wore during his arena tour in early 2017. The shoes are also both signed on the front.”

Bidding on the shoes is set to end on November 27, 2017. The top bid so far is $350. The Small Steps Project is a charity based in the UK that strives to provide aid in the form of shoes and food to children and communities. They also try to support the children to take steps into education and adults into employment.

Steve Aoki talks fashion and movement

Steve Aoki is a musical genius who literally never stops moving. Aoki plays over 200 shows a year around the world and loves to be moving constantly. Aoki loves movement in both the travel sense and body sense.

“My life is movement,” Steve Aoki told AOL Entertainment at the ASICS ‘I Move Me’ campaign launch at Public Hotels recently. “Everything we do is based on that fluidity. Music is all about connecting with people, but in order to connect with people you have to move with people. One of my favorite things to do in life — and I can’t see the train stopping anytime soon — is touring. When I do over 200 shows a year around the world, it can be daunting. But I love it.”

“The spirit of that movement is in my DNA,” Aoki continued. “I’m not the kind of guy who puts his feet up on the table to chill and watch TV while eating a bag of chips. That’s not me — I can’t do that. I need to constantly have action, mobility and movement.”

Steve Aoki will never stop not moving. Aoki works out every single day and can’t bear to sit still. During a day off after a radio show in Maui, Aoki connected with a professional surfer and spent all day learning about foil surfing rather than just relaxing by the beach. During another off day in Las Vegas, Aoki went skydiving off a helicopter over The Strip.

“When I have a day off, I’m thinking, ‘What bucket list item can I fulfill?'” he said.

It’s these exotic adventures that Aoki does that inspire his DJ work. Aoki refers to himself as a ‘walking sampler” and tends to document the things around him where he is. It could be taking pictures, audio samples, or notes. Aoki is always leaving for something to ignite the imagination inside his brain to create even better music.

“I realized that my creative outlet isn’t just one linear idea,” he says. “Going into the studio is one, but so is going out and building a fashion collection with a brand like ASICS. There are so many different ways to find your output, so I just follow my intuition and feelings.”

“All of the fleeting moments that pass you by, those are the things that are the blueprints of your next product,” he added. “If you don’t take notice of that, it’ll just go away. It’s like a dream.”

Aoki has always had a passion for fashion and it’s been very clear recently. Aoki says that fashion has “always been my blood” and even after many collaborations with athletic brands in the past, his new collaboration with ASICS is what really has him excited.

“ASICS wanted to give me a voice,” he said about his “I Move Me” campaign. “It wasn’t just about a name or a face. I wanted to add so much to the fashion sensibility, and working out on a daily basis is something I already do every day and promote on social media. I was already going in that direction, and ASICS wanted to give me the infrastructure to just do me. It was perfect.”

KYLE drops shoe collection with UGG x Footaction

KYLE recently announced he will be the head figure for a UGG x Footaction collection. Footaction will be the only place you can score these surprisingly cool UGGs meant for a cool laid-back guy.

West Coast rapper KYLE had the breakout track “ispy” hit number 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart and was even featured on its way up on Billboard Hot 100 with the song hitting its prime at number 4.

If KYLE had to describe his own style in one word it would be California. The 24-year-old rapper grew up in a small surfer city called Ventura which is located in southern California. KYLE stated in a Billboard article that UGGs were the go-to shoes in Ventura.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Ba_mBm8g5w0/?taken-by=superduperkyle

“In my community, the surfers were looked up to as the coolest people, you feel me? It wasn’t the football players, it wasn’t the super thugged-out dudes, it was the kids who knew how to surf and all of them were rocking UGGs,” he tells Billboard Style, “so for a surf town, it represents the cool.”

“I really love how versatile the UGG styles are,” he said of the unexpected collaboration. “I’m a dude from California and I can rock Ugg any day. It was dope to be able to partner with UGG and Footaction on this campaign.”

“I’ve always loved UGG, I’ve always shopped at Footaction and I felt like it was really something that was actually a part of my childhood and my life,” he says, “when I got the opportunity, I was mad excited. It just made perfect sense.”

“With a shared California heritage, unique sense of style and jovial spirit, KYLE represents the true essence of UGG,” says Andrea O’Donnell, president of fashion lifestyle of Deckers Brands, who is the parent company of UGG’s.

The campaign was shot by a well-known photographer who goes by the name of Chris McPherson. McPherson took the shots for the campaign when KYLE was in New York City filming his debut acting career in Netflix’s new series called “The After party”, which is also featuring fellow artists like Wiz Khalifa and French Montana. The campaign follows KYLE throughout The Big Apple, exploring some famous landmarks like Central Park and Times Square, all while wearing UGGs.

When asked about the campaign shots for the collection in an XXL article he says, “It was really dope! The campaign was actually shot in reflection to how I actually felt in New York. I’ve never really spent more than a day in New York and that was the first weekend of me being in New York because I was shooting a movie. They had me doing a lot out of tourist stuff for the campaign. As a California kid locked in the city, I like going around doing all this awesome stuff. So, I got to do a lot of stuff that I always wanted to do in New York like seeing the Statue of Liberty and stuff like that and they just documented the whole thing, which was really cool. So, they really captured KYLE’s first trip in New York.”

KYLE is set to perform at ComplexCon this weekend in Long Beach for his very first time. At the event Footaction x UGG will be hosting “Kyle’s Place” which will be a visual experience that uses his own music that will portray a way fashion and music create something bigger.

The campaign styles will be including three new colorways of the brand’s lace-up Neumel Chukka model. Most of the shoes in the collection will have a variety of color-blocked varieties and even some waterproof versions as well. The collection will also still include the signature Classic Toggle hi-top slip-on boots that the brand is famously known for. If you want to get a pair of the shoes they are already available online and at select Footaction and UGG stores worldwide.

Adidas releases beer and vomit resistant shoes

When the long Saturday night turns into an even longer Sunday morning, sometimes your stomach can’t handle it all and might surprise you with a very unpleasant surprise. More than likely you didn’t get a chance to change out of your night out clothes. You end up vomiting all over the toilet and on your nice shoes, most of us have been there.

Luckily Adidas has released a pair of trainers to help prevent ruining a good pair of shoes. The Adidas Münchens are specially coated to stop spilled drinks and bodily fluids from ruining the leather. The trainers cost roughly around $233 USD but are currently sold out.

The Münchens were specifically released to go along with Oktoberfest, hence why they are being advertised as “beer and vomit repellant”. The design is lined with a red and white micro-check pattern that matches the tablecloths at the iconic Bavarian festival and have a nice brown leather. The DPBR coat is what ensures that it can stay puke and beer resistant. To finish up the shoe the word “prost” is stitched in right next to the three stripes. “prost” means “cheers” in German.

Oktoberfest is a folk festival originating in Munich, Germany where more than six million people around the world partake in. The festival usually has plenty of beer and food so the shoes are great for attendees seeing how rowdy things can get that can lead to a beer or two spilling.

The festival can be a scary scene for your brand-new clothes, especially your shoes, which makes these shoes a guaranteed match for these kinds of events. The shoes are even perfect for just normal wear around town or hanging out with friends. The shoes are stylish enough that even hip parents can wear if they are used to their own children spilling stuff everywhere.

Balenciaga’s Triple S sneakers hottest new shoe

The Balenciaga sneaker take over hasn’t stopped with the Speed Trainers. Balenciaga’s Triple S sneakers have sold out instantly in Manhattan, one of the most fashionable areas of the world.

Triple S sneakers have taken the market by storm just like their counterpart, Speed Trainer shoes. These unconventional sneakers almost resemble an 80’s style shoe that you could find at your local thrift store. according to an employee at the Parisian brand’s Madison Avenue, New York, location, they sold out in 30 minutes. Right now, the Triple S sneakers are arguably the most sought after casual footwear.

You can give partial credit to Instagram, because they have been showcased on multiple accounts leading to many sneakerheads, fashionistas, and people wanting to make a bold statement, to go looking for the chunky shoes. Triple S sneakers have even been spotted on some famous feet such as ASAP Ferg and Offset. The Triple S sneakers were dominating the Paris fashion week scene, as they were seen practically everywhere.

The sneakers have a three-layer stacked sole with pre-distressed details throughout which is how it got its name (Triple S). The shoe size is embroidered on the toe, with rope laces adding the finishing touch to the shoes. The shoe was originally added to the Balenciaga men’s collection by artistic director Demna Gvasalia for the brand’s FW17 show in Paris.

Just like what happened with the Speed Trainers, other brands such as Gucci, Dior, and Prada, have been trying their best to catch up to Balenciaga and release shoes closely resembling the Triple S. Fast fashion brands have also jumped on board of the “ugly” shoe trend. Zara has completely ripped off the Triple S, releasing their own shoe that mimics the iconic shoes called, the Multi-Piece sneaker. Zara has priced their shoe around $35 USD while Balenciaga’s model is around $850 USD.

The shoes are said to be going for almost double the price from resellers on eBay and other websites. It’s also said that even knockoff Triple S sneakers are going for a whopping $450 USD.

“People with a lot of visibility wear ugly sneakers and it’s a trickle-down effect,” says Chris Green, divisional merchandise manager of New York boutique Totokaelo.

On Highsnobiety they interviewed multiple people who instantly went after the clunky shoes and some of the answers they got were quite interesting.

“@Jakebinning: I first saw the Triple S about eight months ago during the Balenciaga FW17 runway show, and I instantly liked them. I really liked the fresh silhouette, the general aesthetic, as well as the colorways and the chunky sole”.

“@91yxng: This is the most trendy sneaker, and the hottest brand in the world right now”.

Balenciaga are planning on releasing a new color scheme of the Triple S sneaker in the near future. The new scheme will prove consumers a more subdued color combination. The new style will have a white mesh base with cream and off-white accents, but the Balenciaga branding will still remain black.

New Balenciaga kicks take over the fashion scene with bizarre look

Typically, only athletic brands try their hand at the unusual shoe layout. A flexible knit body attached to a basic sole creates the new sock sneakers. But as of lately many luxury companies have tried to create their own style of the shoe, trying to sell it to the more fashionable side of the spectrum, but none have been as successful as Balenciaga has with their new Speed Trainers.

Balenciaga’s Speed Trainers have recently have been on the market for some time now and it’s been a surprise by how well they have done, considering it is basically a sock glued onto a sole. Speed Trainers have taken the fashion scene by storm with the model hitting it big since it was released. Speed Trainers are available in a number of different versions and cost roughly between $595 to $695.

The Speed Trainers are in a completely different era compared to their more traditional styled shoes such as the Triple S sneaker. But the sneakers weren’t the only stop for Balenciaga. They recently also released booties and pumps with the sock-like frame which retail around $995.

The fashion trend has become so popular that most fashion chains have adapted the shoe into their own collections. Brands like Zara and Free People have their own take on the shoe sneakers and have them for considerably less. Even Dior has challenged the Speed Trainers with their own revamped sock like sneaker. The B21 sneaker by Dior looks relatively similar to Balenciaga’s take and cost just as much.

Although no luxury label is selling as hot as Balenciaga is with their speed trainers. Speed Trainers are so high in demand that they are virtually sold out everywhere and continue to do so with every restock. You would be considered lucky to even get a knockoff pair of Speed Trainers. Speed Trainers are now available in multiple styles such as: triple black, turquoise, white, prune, and even an IKEA version.

The bizarre shoes have been seen on the feet of celebrities such as Kylie Jenner and Hailey Baldwin. Even rappers like Future have been caught wearing the comfortable shoes. The booties and pump versions have also been seen on the feet of Kourtney Kardashian and Rihanna.  As unconventional as they look it seems like everyone, even the A-list celebrities, have taken a liking in the shoes.

“It’s undeniable how comfortable they are”, says Brian Trunzo, senior menswear editor at WSGN. But not everyone has taken a liking in the shoes. Kicks on Fire wrote, “I may not know fashion, but I do know I would not rock these regardless of who or what brand made them”. Even so, it seems like not being for the new fashion trend isn’t the popular opinion amongst consumers seeing how every brand has dipped into the strange shoe market.

Balenciaga has taken a page straight out of brands such as Nike and Adidas, who have been working with this style of shoe for ages. Nike has been experimenting with this dating back as far as 1979 with their Bermuda shoe. Adidas arguably has been on top with their fly knit technology with the likes of their shoes such as NMD, Tubular, and even the one of the most popular shoes Yeezy 350.

In recent studies, Edited has found that the market for Sock-like sneakers has increased by more than 220% among luxury labels and has only been a 20% of discounts on 5% of new arrivals indicating that there will be plenty of time for full price sales.

Not Just an Ordinary Leather Brogue

British shoemaker Oliver Sweeney is pairing up with Johnnie Walker to release a limited edition leather brogue with a little secret. Hidden in the soles of each shoe is a small bottle of Johnnie Walker Red Label!

But, it doesn’t end there. The iconic “Johnnie” logo is stamped on the side of each shoe. And on the back is a stitching of the initials “J.W.”. These leather brogues are priced reasonably for a pair with a “special feature” ($489). So if you don’t mind being judged as an alcoholic, and love to be alcoholically prepared, you might want to add these to your wish-list.

Shoes: Try these Pair of Extravagance

In this country of extravagance and excess, it’s easy to find an expensive, over-the-top pair of shoes. The recipe is rather simple. First, find a pair of high quality shoes. Then, cover it in expensive metals (preferably gold, silver or platinum). Lastly, take a handful of high carat diamonds, paste it all over the shoes and slap a high price tag on it.

But truly expensive pair of shoes are made with love, passion and a healthy dose of quality; not a pair of loafers covered with 24 carat diamonds (Nick C. I’m talking to you). Often made by luxury brands like Salvatore Ferragamo or Louis Vuitton, the prices rarely exceed $10,000. But, they are tastefully designed and sold at a price that will make you feel like you just got your money’s worth. Some designs may have some gold or diamonds, but they are subtle and difficult to spot from a distance.
